MACHINIST'S CUBE

A square JACK CAPTIVE IN A CUBE

This machinist's cube was cut from a solid block of Delrin and then dyed orange. The inner cube piece floats inside the cube and cannot escape. It was a fun little project that I did after work one day and it only took a couple of hours.

Machining the first side
Machining the last face
Before machining the last side, I hot-glued the inside of the cube to hold the inner part in place when it was finally freed on the last operation. Afterwards, I soaked the cube in IPA to make it easier to peel off the hot glue.
